Sunglasses Info
No rain, sunshine and strong winds – perfect (kite-) surfing weather. A
quick glance to the sky and to the kite and fun can begin – if not for
the glistering sunshine.
Whether it is kite-surfing, wind surfing, sailing or skiing and
snowboarding: the visual function is highly demanded, yet the eyes are
also prone to damage without the use of high-quality sports glasses.
Sports glasses protect the highly sensitive eyes not only from the
glistering sunshine, but also from spume, salt water and wind which can
cause the eyes to close or become watery. During this time the
surroundings remain unobserved so that unexpected incidents can take
place.
High-quality sports glasses can protect water and winter sports
athletes in many respects. For this purpose the right glasses need to
fulfil certain criteria. The most important requirements should be a
correct fit, breaking resistance of frame as well as glass and 100% sun
protection.
Fit
Tight fitting and soft earpieces, a soft nose pad and an adjustable "Back-Strap" provide for the correct fit and wearing comfort of our sports glasses.
Frame
All "JC Optics" sports glasses are made of a highly robust, shatter-proof and floatable plastic material (TR 90).
Glass
The breaking resistance of all glass used for „JC Optics“ glasses is
due to the plastic material „polycarbonate“ employed for the production
of our glasses. This material is also used for producing bulletproof
car glass for armoured state coaches.
One of the most important characteristics of our glasses is the full
protection from ultraviolet rays. The eyes cannot counterbalance light
irradiation sufficiently. As an effect our perceptive function is
impaired. Due to the high light absorbing effect of our glasses the
glaring of the sun is reduced significantly. In general darker toned
glasses absorb a higher amount of sunlight. Our sports glasses hold a
category CE3 glare shield and transmit only 8-18% of sunlight.
Therefore they are particularly suitable for southern countries, bright
water surfaces, the beach and mountains.
Ultraviolet rays can cause pink eyes or keratitis in case of long or
intense sun exposure. By request our sports glasses can be equipped
with an anti-polarization coating to reduce the reflexion of light from
water surfaces and snow. The glass of our sports glasses carries the CE
mark and is compliant with the norm EN 1836:2005. Hence our glasses
meet the requirements of European directives and safety requirements
for sports glasses.
Information for spectacle wearers
it is easily possible to adjust our sports glasses to your individual
prescription values. The polycarbonate-glasses can be easily removed
from the frame and replaced with prescription glasses by an optician.
Alternatively we offer adjustable eyewear retainers to secure a perfect fit of your own prescription glasses.
Winter sports
During winter sports sensitive eyes are put under particular strain.
95% of all sunlight is reflected by the snow cover. The intensity of
sun rays can amount to 100000 lux. The eyes, however, are only able to
cope with an intensity of up to 10000 lux. Therefore it is particularly
important to wear sports glasses with 100% sun protection during winter
sports. The glasses should hold a glare shield of category 3 or 4. This
qualifies "JC Optics" sports glasses for all kinds of winter sports. We
recommend all winter sports athletes to use glasses with an
anti-polarization coating.
Conclusion
High quality "JC Optics" sports glasses contribute to your safety and
health and ultimately to unlimited water or winter sports fun.
